The Men Who Stare At Goats

When I first saw the trailer I thought to myself that I have to see this movie. It’s been more than a year since then, but ok… Finally got a chance to do it!! Very quite night shift, birthday and internet.
This movie is a combination of reality and fiction. Right at the beginning we are warned that most of the things in the movie are actually true (which I even found on youtube during one very quite night shift last year (let me say that that night I was REALLY bored). The footage included the ‘’hamster sequence’’ from this movie and some other techniques described in it.).
This is a story about Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), a guy who claims to be a former member of the U.S. Army's New Earth Army (guided by Bill Django - portrayed by a brilliant Jeff Bridges), a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions, a ‘’Jedi warrior’’ as he says. The narrator of this whole story is Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor), a journalist, who decides to go to Iraq in search of a good story after his marriage fells apart.
Maybe the trailer promises a brilliant comedy full of action and laughter (well, ok for the action, you can find some in it) but that is not quite true for the laughter part. But to me, after seeing the trailer… well I expected to have a really good laugh… (It’s like Happy Feet L Such a great trailer but disappointing movie).
The idea of the ‘’peaceful soldiers’’ that could never kill a man and that will only fight with their minds, walk through walls… it is quite intriguing, but it shows how all the good intentions can (in this case) lead to the opposite result - how to use your mind to destroy or kill someone.
Certainly a movie to watch when there is really nothing on tv. Don’t get me wrong, You might like it or you might find it boring.
Perhaps the book is better, I’ll check it out :D

The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King

Finally!! The last one!!
Do you remember the movie Neverending Story? Ok, now picture yourself watching the last 45 minutes of LOTR and imagine yourself with pain! Pain? YES, PAIN!! Because you have the urge to pee as soon as possible and it hurts and this movie is like the neverending story and even if you cross your legs it doesn’t help!! T_T
I wasn’t the only one to feel that way. We had a crisis, we were in pain but we managed somehow to survive to tell the story. Long live the toilet right beside the exit door of the cinema!!
Ok, the Fellowship destroyed the evil and the ring. You think: finally, that is it… NOT!! Aragorn has to marry Arwen, so they can live happily ever after, and become a king. »Ok«, you think, »so this is it«… NOT!! Still there is Frodo that has to go on some kind of boat but obviously in slow motion (was it because I had to pee that I saw him walking slower than a snail or the scene was actually filmed that ‘’fast’’?)
Ok, now we’ll see the ending credits right? HAHA, NOT REALLY!! (It was like hearing Ashton Kutcher screaming »Punked!!« right behind our backs). The pain was getting stronger! Every second it’s like ten minutes long (seriously, this is something I would never wish to my worst enemy).
You can't be serious right, can you?!
The last, or I think was the last (I think the pain made me lost some fragments of the movie), scene is Sam happily running around with his family and Gandalf coming by to see how he’s doing.
As you can imagine I couldn’t really enjoy the last part of the trilogy and I’m not even that interested to see it again. Might be the trauma I have suffered O_o (and I believe I was not alone!! I think the whole row have suffered the same way, or for what I know at least four more people).

Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers

If I have started with the first movie I have to continue with the last two right? (Right T_T Why did I start with that movie anyway…)
As I said in the previous post (LOTR: The Fellowship blah blah) I kinda liked the first movie. Usually the first one is always the good one (see Lethal Weapon) but for some, to us common people, unknown reason we tend to expect that the second is at least as good as the first one if not better. WRONG!
The second movie is usually crap compared to the first one! Why? Mystery of life I would say. Maybe because there is always the third movie that it has to be way better than the middle one so it gives you a better impression of the trilogy (Of course Indiana Jones’ movies are equally great!! But that is another review topic :D )
Still I think that The Two Towers is the worst out of the three movies. The only thing I can remember from it are the two towers (obviously!! But still can’t recall why they where there for), the running trees that were literally glued on screen and Faramir.
The movie still has it’s epic battles and gorgeous landscape, but something is missing.
Have to check the DVD extras, you can always find something funny there :D

Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring

Ok, we all know what the story is about. Everybody knows Frodo and his buddies. I haven’t read the book, some people say I should and they all say it’s way better than the movie(s) itself. But since I’m a little lazy to do that and since it’s not really the genre I would purchase in a library or bookstore I only watched the movie.
At first I didn’t want to watch it but a friend of mine did, so she took me to the cinema and made me pay for watching (!!). Well, ok, nice movie, watchable, special effects were great, the masks awesome, for someone that has never read the book it was quite a good movie.
You hope that Frodo would make it with the ring, that he will finally destroy this ring of evil!! You keep your fingers crossed so all his buddies get home safe! That all the evil powers get what deserved! That the Middle Earth finally gets the peace that it deserves to live in and of course the happy ending for everyone.
Obviously this is how you feel with the first movie. The worst is yet to come!!
It’s a three hours long drama with all kinds of action (and don’t forget the extended version of the DVD plus all the extras on it - in my opinion the best things you can find on a DVD). By the end of the movie (with no break in between) you really need to pee… but it’s not that critical with the first movie. I only wish that we could pause the movie for a few minutes just to stretch the legs…
Let’s be honest I was impressed. They managed to make a whole new world down in New Zealand (starting with the Teletubbies houses for Hobbits O_o Well, they look like that to me…).
Well done Peter Jackson!! Well done!!
I’m just wondering if it has ever crossed his mind to give up everything and just go home. It might have, but glad he didn’t and besides once you start something you have to finish it (ok… that sounds like I really should finish my study and finally graduate U_U Never mind).
The only regret I have after watching it? Once you see the first part you want to see all of them or you will never know how it ends! This is like a road to perdition!

Thank You For Smoking

I have to admit: I AM a smoker. After reading the title of this movie comes naturally to say: »You are welcome mate!!« I know, I know, it's a bad habit and I also know that without a stronger will i probably won't stop that soon. And yes, I am aware, as many of the smoking buddies out there that smoking kills and blah blah....
But we have to give credit to this movie, this is brilliant. The storyline, the dialogues, the acting (I might regret that, actually I already do, but at first I was seriously impressed with Katie Holmes. She even showed some acting skills that we have never seen before and probably we will never see again, which she actually showed us already....)
Aaron Eckhart, on the other hand, is just brilliant. The cold-blooded Big Tobacco's chief spokesman, speaks on behalf of smoking. Skilled at spinning arguments to defend the cigarette industry in the most difficult situations. He makes it look like it's not a big deal.

The tobacco company is actually not really that guilty, but people's stupidity is the one to blame. Which is, of course the bare truth. Let’s face it… U_U I do, but still I haven’t stopped yet… Guilty!!
But people!! Beware of the turning point and never forget that Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart) won’t let you down, not even... don’t worry, I won’t give any spoiler ;)
This satirical comedy is funny but at the same time gives you that bitter taste of truth.
Definitely a good recommendation for all movie lovers… and smokers ;)
Below you can find the theatrical trailer and here is the link to the IMDB website for all the informations you need :D
Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart): That's the beauty of argument, if you argue correctly, you're never wrong.

My First Groovie Movie Bubble!!

First I must say that I have never wrote a blog before, so this is kind of a new thing for me. Second thing is that this blog is mainly about movies, tv series', maybe also any other shit you can find on internet (cool or not).

I will write about movies that I have seen, maybe I'll be late for months or years but I really cannot afford to be familiar with everything that comes out, since I really don't have enough time with study and work, to spend it on watching moves and series' all day long (I only wish I could :( ).

And third, the things I'll write about certain topics are simply my point of view and my opinion so I do not expect everyone to agree. Especially when it comes to box office hits or self employing actors that make movies just because noone else gives them to work, even though they don't really need to work... Yes, some people do that, simply because THEY CAN...

Let me know if you'll like the blog, I'm open for any kind of suggestions, opinions, greetings... well you know: anything :)

If you have some movie to suggest I'll be more than happy to take a look at it :)
For now this is it :) Hope to be able to provide a review soon. :D
